The Bears hosted a big group of unofficial visitors for Saturday’s Spring Showcase, including a 2025 commit.

QB commit Robert McDaniel‍ took the drive up from the central valley for a repeat trip to Berkeley after committing to Cal last month. The 6-1/190 Hughson QB passed for nearly 3,000 yards along with 33 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions on the season. He led Hughson to the NorCal championship game before bowing out to eventual state champ Palma-Salinas in a tight battle.

“Whenever I’ve had the opportunity to make the trip, the staff has treated me like family and there hasn’t been a change with me coming back for the spring game,” McDaniel said after the visit. “I wasn’t able to talk to a lot of the recruits but with the ones I did, it was great conversations.”

Corona Centennial WR Tay McNair totaled 17 catches for 267 yards (15.7 ypc) and 3 TDs as a junior and holds offers from Utah, Arizona, BYU, Michigan State and more. McNair said of the visit: “The visit was great. I really enjoyed myself and it was a great atmosphere. I got to spend a lot of time with the staff and they really treated me like family.

“I think Coach Wilcox has the program going in the right direction. With them joining the ACC, Coach has them preparing for a competitive and great year. I’ve had a great relationship with Coach Toler and Coach Watson and Marshall Cherrington since my freshman year, especially Coach Toler.”

San Juan Hills 4 star WR Jadyn Robinson had 15 catches for 206 yards (13.7 ypc) and 3 TDs through the air and 15 carries for 130 yards (8.7 ypc) and 2 TDs on the ground as a junior and holds offers from Texas, Utah, Arizona, Pitt and more. Robinson said of the visit:

“Great day up there at Cal yesterday. I loved seeing the teams compete against each other and the various ways that were very different and unique to me. They added some great pieces to the team like Mikey Matthews and Tobias Merriweather and players coming back like NFL-bound Jadyn Ott. Going to be very fun watching them play in the ACC

“As I tell everyone, Coach Toler and my relationship is like no other, on and off the field, Really great at what he does with these players on and off the field, having such a strong relationship and that’s a coach I think can develop with, not only as a player but as a young man as well.”

Castlemont-Oakland WR Elijah Washington‍ made a repeat trip up the road to nearby Cal. The 3 star WR holds offers from Arizona, OSU, WSU, San Diego State and more. He noted of the visit:

“My visit to Cal was good. I had a great conversation with Coach Toler, and I was able to meet the head coach, Justin Wilcox, which was good as well. My impression of the team was good. I knew a lot of the receivers so that was good to meet up with everyone and discuss their perspectives about playing up at Cal .”

Las Vegas ATH Trey Glasper‍ totaled 34 catches for 374 yards (11.0 ypc) and 7 TDs as a junior and holds offers from Miami, WSU, OSU, Iowa State and more. The 3 star ATH said of the visit:

“It was great! I’ve never been to the bay or Cal Berkeley before so it was great to be able to get down there and see the campus and facilities. It was also great to be able to meet Coach Tre (Watson) and Coach TB (Terrence Brown) in person and get the chance to sit in on a position meeting and then see them coach in the spring game. I love the energy Coach Tre and Coach TB as well as the whole DB room have and bring to the table. Overall it was a great visit and I’m planning to get back there for an OV.”

St. Ignatius OT John Mills‍ holds offers from Michigan, Florida, Tennessee, Washington, USC and more. The 6-6/316 OT said of the visit:

“It was super cool. I was with my friends and we all got a great game day experience with amazing hospitality.”

Texas DE Carmello Brooks‍ holds offers from Texas, Missouri, Pitt, Houston and more. The 6-3/250 3 star DE said of the visit:

“It was great. The coaches are definitely bought in and the defensive side of the staff is great and keep the defense in check!”

The Bears also hosted Maryland portal transfer tight end Corey Dyches last night and are currently hosting UNLV interior lineman portal transfer Alani Makihele and Wisconsin edge TJ Bollers, who the Bears pursued as a prep player in 2021.

Stay tuned for more on the visits in coming days.
